Christ is risen!

My name is Sean. I attend Saint Athanasius Antiochian Orthodox Church. I have been helping our priest and Reader to chant the services for about a year and it has been quite the learning curve. There is so much to learn and I have really liked discovering how the various services an chants work. I always find myself making mistakes and learning something new. Thankfully our Reader is very patient with me. In many ways, learning to work at the cantor stand is similar to the process of repentance. When I make mistakes which is often, it is a good reminder of how imperfect I am and how I need to continue practicing to be better for the next time.

On another note, our parish mostly uses the Western Notation but I have really enjoyed learning the Byzantine Notation and the authentic scales for each of the tones. It has been very helpful.
