Hi, I’m Margaret Ashton from St Luke Antiochian in Erie, CO. My husband serves as a Deacon there, and I am a chanter, among other things. I’ve been chanting just over two years and am now beginning to lead some services. I love it and spend as much time learning more about it as I can. I’ve always been musical, picked up playing the oboe as an adult, and love learning new things. My priest chants well and reads Byzantine notation and is super encouraging about chanting. Other than chant, I have two young adult daughters, and two English Springer Spaniels. I work full-time as a Radiation Safety Officer at a University, where I’ve worked for nearly 35 years – hoping to retire next year after our youngest graduates. At church, I also serve as parish treasurer (my first year doing that and also a steep learning curve) and lead a ministry group for women focused healing and resilience.

I’m interested in the article mentioned in the Week3 lesson by Dr Edith Humphrey (I highly recommend this short article from Dr. Edith Humphrey, which touches on a number of topics to which this hymn makes reference. I promise that reading it will enrich your experience of Orthodox hymnography), but the link is broken. Is there another way to access it?

Was there an Advanced Topics Voice Lab today at 1:30 pm Eastern? Just curious if there’s something wrong with my Zoom because it kept saying it was waiting on the host to start the meeting….
