You don’t have to prepare them like you do the homework piece, but I would encourage you to read through the lesson on each hymn and listen to the recordings at least once.
P.S. Due to this issue, I will also arrive 15 minutes early, and stay 15 minutes longer, at tomorrow’s (Thursday’s) lab, so that those who were unable to get in today due to the mix-up with the lab sign up sheets can come tomorrow.
Also due to this issue, several of you were signed up for what were actually Oct 205 labs. I removed you from those labs, so if you received an email about it, that’s why. The lab sign up sheets are now correct, so you can sign up “again” for your desired time slots for the rest of the course.
Good afternoon, all,
I have to ask your forgiveness. Due to going back and forth between Albuquerque (Mountain Time) and Vancouver, WA (Pacific Time), and a technical error in the website, Auto 110 got the same sign-up sheet as Oct 205, and those classes are now double-booked today starting at 3:45 pm Eastern Time. (This error was only on the sign-ups page; the lab times listed in the course description are still correct.)
I have corrected the issue with the website, and the correct sign-up sheet is now displaying for Auto 110. However, it’s too late to reschedule today’s labs. Therefore, we will hold both labs simultaneously. When you arrive in the lab, I will ask if anyone has severe time constraints, and will work with those students first. I would be grateful if those who have a little more flexibility in their schedules would be kind enough to go a little later during the lab.
I will, of course, stay for longer, since this lab will be covering two different courses, so don’t worry about us running out of time.
I thank you for your patience with me during this rather crazy time as our family moves from NM to WA, and ask your forgiveness again.Good afternoon, all,

I looked through my files as best I could – my home computer is currently in a box – and, as best I can tell, it looks like I didn’t record parallagi as a single file, since I intentionally broke it up into phrases for the lesson.
I have added playlists of sticheraric and heirmologic Plagal 1st Mode to the topic “What does Plagal 1st Mode sound like?” in Week 1. Those are what I would recommend listening to throughout the course.
Correct.
Good afternoon,
Today’s last lab will begin 15 minutes later than originally scheduled, i.e. at 6:00 pm Eastern rather than 5:45.
Thank you,
GabrielHello all,
I added an additional video to the 1st Mode “More Honorable”; Practice with Verses [Homework] topic of the course. This video deals with how exactly we select appropriate melodic formulas for the cadence section of verses. Hopefully this clears things up at least somewhat.
There was an issue with the sign-up sheet for the second lab on Friday; I’ve corrected it, and there are now 3 more slots available.
Thanks, Kaliope, for pointing that out. I’ve uploaded those recordings.
I have updated the labs sign-up sheet for this week.
Additionally, in the Written Homework Submissions Google Drive folder, I have put several examples of handwritten scores from my teacher, Dr. Ioannis Arvanitis. These are good models for how to form the various characters when simply using a pencil or ballpoint pen, and not a calligraphy pen.
Pasting the Zoom links here as well as a precaution.

Important: Today’s 2 labs will be taught by Dina Marinakos and Peter George, respectively. I have added links to each of their Zoom rooms to the sign-up page for the labs.
If you are in the lab being taught by Dina, be sure to click on her Zoom link, not mine, and likewise if you are in the lab being taught by Peter.
Also, Jon had asked about a cheat sheet for 1st Mode; here is a link to something I made a few years ago:
