This course serves as a systematic primer in the theoretical and practical aspects of the 8 modes. The modes will be studied within the context of the Anastasimatarion; that is, the Resurrectional hymns of Saturday night Vespers and Sunday morning Orthros. We will study one hymn in the heirmologic and sticheraric forms in each mode (and possibly additional forms).
