This course serves as a systematic primer in the theoretical and practical aspects of Grave Mode.  This mode will be studied within the context of the Anastasimatarion; that is, the Resurrectional hymns of Saturday night Vespers and Sunday morning Orthros.  Upon completing this course, a student will be proficient in the heirmologic and sticheraric forms of Grave Mode.  This course will also feature three weeks of instruction on diatonic Grave Mode.

Prerequisite(s): All of the Octoëchos courses require ByzB103 (Basic Reading Fluency) or an equivalent course of study.

Class Dates: 3rd Term 2024 (September 30 – November 17, 2024)
Weekly Chant Labs (all times Eastern):
Tuesdays, 12:30 – 1:00 PM ET
Tuesdays, 4:30 – 5:00 PM ET
Thursdays, 6:30 – 7:00 PM ET
Thursdays, 10:30 – 11:00 PM ET

More Chant Lab times will be added as needed based on number of students enrolled.
