ByzB 102: Intro to Byzantine Notation

In this course, students study the foundational symbols needed to read a syllabic hymn in Byzantine notation.  Students will study interval symbols, qualitative symbols, rhythm symbols, and symbols that indicate the mode and scale.  Students will study Heirmologic hymns in the Diatonic Modes on parallagi as they learn the symbols.

Class Dates: October 26 – December 13, 2020 (2nd Term 2020)
Live Practice Sessions (all sessions listed in ET):
Mondays 8:30 – 9 pm
Thursdays  8:30 – 9 pm
More Practice Sessions will be added as enrollment increases and more sessions are needed.

Prerequisites: ByzB 101 (please contact the school if you did not take ByzB 101, but feel qualified to start with ByzB 102)
Materials: ByzB Starter Set from the Trisagion School store (enrollees receive 25% off-find the access code in the Introduction to the course)


Students need to purchase the ByzB Starter Set if they have not done so already.
