Materials

In this course, students study the foundational symbols needed to read a syllabic hymn in Byzantine notation.  Students will study interval symbols, qualitative symbols, rhythm symbols, and symbols that indicate the mode and scale.  Students will study Heirmologic hymns in the Diatonic Modes on parallagi as they learn the symbols.

Cost: $225 Class Dates: 3rd Term 2021 (August 30 – October 27, 2021)
Practice Sessions (all times Eastern)
Tuesdays  9:00 – 9:30 pm
Thursdays  1:00 – 1:30 pm; 7:30 – 8:00 pm

Vocal Technique sessions (all times Eastern)
Tuesdays, 8:00 – 8:30 pm
Thursdays, 1:30 – 2:00; 8:00 – 8:30 pm

Students need to purchase the ByzB Starter Set if they have not done so already.
