Automela 110 is an introductory course in a series of courses that will study the model melodies (automela) which serve as the musical and metrical basis for other hymns (prosomia). Students will learn one automelon per week, studying the hymns from both musical score and text and then applying those melodies to other texts while taking into account small rhythmical or melodic changes that may be necessary.

Automela 110 will cover the following melodies:

  1. Thou art the joy (1st)
  2. O house of Ephratha (2nd)
  3. Thou Who as God adornest (3rd)
  4. On this day Thou hast appeared (4th)
  5. As it is written (Pl. 2nd)
  6. What shall we now call you (Pl. 4th)
  7. Thou soughtest the heights (2nd)

Note: Due to a restructuring of our automela program, some students may have already covered several of these melodies in a previous class.  If you already have access to some of these materials from melodies from taking a previous course with us, please contact us at trisagionschool@gmail.com before registering so that we can issue you an invoice for a reduced rate for this course.
