Updates and News from Trisagion School of Byzantine Music
Registration for ByzB Youth 1 and ByzB Youth 3 is open! ByzB Youth classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and are for youth ages, 12 - 16. Students cover the same content found in our adult classes, but in a more manageable, age appropriate way. They learn to chant automela and prosomia and learn to read hymns from Byzantine notation.Words from one of our students, reflecting on his learning in ByzB Youth 4:"The biggest thing for me was speeding up my reading of notation. I went from seeing symbols on a piece of paper to hearing a hymn. With a few tries, I can sing a hymn. I know last semester I also mentioned reading notation as an improvement, but this time I have gone from driving a remote control car to driving a race car. The difference is huge. I can read Byzantine chant!!”https://trisagionschool.org/homeschool-catalog/

The ByzB Youth classes cover similar content as the adult ByzB classes but have more structure and support for younger learners. Students complete the initial instruction via the online classroom materials---they read lessons, watch videos, and listen to audio recordings---and then they meet in their online practice sessions twice a week. Class sections are limited to 12 students. At the age of 14 students may transfer into our adult classes if they desire a faster pace.
